My adorable little Phalaenopsis Mini Mark ‘Holm’ bought from Karge in April is now finally blooming! There are two spikes with 9 buds, four of which has already opened. This is by my estimation quite possibly one of the very best man made hybrid results there are. At least in the Phalaenopsis family. The distinct shape and [...] The beautiful and fragrant first flower faded just a few days ago, and there she goes again… Bud number two from the lovely Ms. Phalaenopsis bellina has started to open. And just like the song (apparently inspired by a seductive street walker), she is indeed quite seductive – although I would definitely not call her a streetwalker. This lady [...] You just have to love orchids that come with full “drulleförsäkring” (liability insurance for clumsy people, or clumsiness insurance for short). My dear Phalaenopsis Marbella is such an orchid. This little lady is flowering right now, but it almost was not to be this year. I managed to break the flower spike when watering earlier [...] Let me introduce you to the lovely Phalaenopsis floresensis. This sweet confection of an orchid looks a little bit like old fashioned vanilla ice cream with a tongue dipped in pink cotton candy. Add that to 3 spikes with 9 flowers in total and you got yourself a party! Granted I bought this one already in [...] After a long courtship since I first discovered the flower spike back in march, the Phalaenopsis bellina flower has finally opened up. And wow!! It was really worth the wait. She makes good by her name and then some. Absolutely gorgeous shape, stunning colors, and very fragrant to boot! I must almost say that it [...] True to form, the fabulous Phalaenopsis Marbella flower spike I managed to break (!) a month ago (See: “DANG!!“) has begun to grow again! YES!! This plant is extremely willing to please, it loves to bloom, and I bummed out for quite some time after breaking the spike. Now she is bouncing back as I [...] Wow, I thougth the plant I bought about 6 weeks ago was a little too small to bloom, but Look what I found when I was watering… the beginning of a flowerstalk!! Yay! This is very exciting news. I know I have told you guys before, but it was really the Phalaenopsis bellina that [...] Today was spring cleaning in the nano vivarium. I took the whole thing apart, cleaned out the watering system and polished the tube. To do that I had to lift out the whole EpiWeb wall/branch assembly which gave me a good opportunity to go over and inspect each plant since that is really hard [...] While watering this afternoon I managed to brake the flower stalk off my Phalaenopsis Marbella… Last time she bloomed the stalk branched off, now I have to hope that she really wants to bloom and decides to branch where it broke istead of aborting the blooming season… #%@*&!!! |
