My orchids

I have not singled out one specific species to focus on, but my big favorite right now is definitely orchids of the Pleurothallid Alliance. I simply adore Masdevallia and Dracula and I am growing them successfully right now. I want to grow more Dryadella, Lepanthes, Pleurothallis, Porroglossum, Restrepia, Stelis – oh what the heck, all of them! The first orchid I ever fell in love was a Paphiopedilum and I have to admit that I am a bit of a paphio-phile. I have also fallen in love with the Neofinetia species as well as a mixed bag of miniature orchids, but my focus is turning more and more towards cool growers.

My growing spaces

I have a dedicated orchid room in my city apartment. It used to be the guestroom, and even though the futon still fits I cannot really fool anyone anymore… I have also converted a terrarium into a warm vivarium for warm growing minis and a few Phalaenopsis species. I am planning the build of a new, much larger vivarium for cool growing orchids. Hopefully this build will be completed during the earlier parts of 2010.
