Ecuador orchid babies: 1 week

Dracula cordobae flask babies - mold!I picked up my 3 flasks from Ecuagenera in Ecuador at the Gothenburg International Orchid show this weekend. The Masdies looked good (decumana and infracta), but the Dracula cordobae came with a 2 cm large spot of mold in the agar. So I had to deflask the little ones right away, too bad really they are very small… I hope they will make it.

There were supposed to be at least 15 babies per flask, the dracs I just took out were were over 20. I had to toss one that was sitting right in the moldy spot but the rest looked good.

The masdies will have to stay in their jars and grow for a few more months before they come out. The decumana babies are looking especially vigorous. Exciting!!
